Mar 31, 2020
COVID-19 has had a huge impact on our daily lives and for some their jobs and income. For those that have chosen to stay home or have been laid off, budgeting has become top of mind. How to make your insurance payments is most likely one of those concerns.
Insurance companies across Ontario have been proactively looking at how the COVID-19 epidemic is impacting their valued customers and have been trying to find ways to help alleviate some stress during this uncertain time.
What insurance companies are doing to help their customers during COVID-19?
As a dedicated hometown broker, representing the top 25 insurance companies across Canada, we are very proud of the steps taken to support policy holders. While every insurance company and situation is different, we are seeing the below steps being proactively put into effect:
- Waiving all NSF fees for missed payments from March 16, 2020 until the state of emergency is lifted
- Looking at possibly deferring/delaying payments on a case by case basis
- Changing payment dates to a preferable date
- Stopped any Non-Payment cancellations
- If possible, allowing flexible payment options for monthly and/ or online payments
Although exceptions may be possible, the insurance companies are asking that every effort is made to still make the payments as scheduled, but we may have options for you if you find you need the assistance.
